Biography
Nicole Elise Martin graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Academy of Art University in 2011. She works in a variety of mediums, including oil painting, pastel painting, charcoal drawing, and small metal arts/jewelry. Her favorite subjects are landscape painting and portraiture. Nicole’s paintings, art prints, and jewelry are in private collections across the United States. Nicole’s studio is based in Fremont, California.
Artist’s Statement
Painted in an impressionist style, the ethereal quality of light and atmosphere are the primary focus of my landscapes. My goal is to capture a sense of movement, as translucent clouds hover overhead and waves come crashing into shore. Layers of contrasting pigments and complimentary colors are used to create this effect. I am inspired by the beautiful scenery that surrounds me here in the Bay Area, as well as memories of the places that I have visited. Driven by the desire to transform anxious energy into something positive, my hope is that the viewer will find the work soothing, uplifting, and immersive.
